Quick Solutions to a Small Problem.

Recently I ran into the issue of obtaining a quality camera for my film project. In order to compose a high quality project I thought I could ask the school for their video production camera and a tutorial on how to use it. Unfortunately the camera is a town issued piece of equipment and is not owned by the school, so only a student in a video production class could use it. Because of my low budget I had to find a cheap and quick fix to this problem so I began my research. At the time I thought this challenge was an inconvenience but now, in hindsight, it makes sense. My goal for this year was not only to make a short film but to also introduce a curriculum and plan for a course here at Sutton High. Like my own project, students would have to create their own short film using the techniques they learned throughout the school year at the end of the course. To me, it makes a lot more sense for teachers to have students use their phones for filming their project over an expensive camera. For one thing, most students have smartphones with efficient cameras and easy to use video editing and for another, the solution is quick and doesn't cost anything. For me, I purchased a tripod stand that is attachable to an iPhone 8+ in order to have stable film and footage after researching ways to make phone camera quality higher. In conclusion, I'm glad the video production camera was unavailable because it creates a more realistic simulation for what the course I'm creating would entail. I can't wait to use my tripod in filming next week!
